We are pleased to invite you to the launching of twin photography exhibitions, ‘On the Margins: Images of Tea Workers and Ethnic Communities’ organized by the Society for Environment and Human Development (SEHD). Many years of in-depth investigation and research of SEHD have identified more than 100 ethnic communities living in the tea gardens and different parts of Bangladesh. Exclusive photos of these ethnic communities will be showcased at the exhibitions highlighting their identity, lifestyle, culture and struggle.
Professor Md. Golam Rahman, Chief Information Commissioner, will grace the event as the chief guest. The special guests and speakers include EU representative; Heleen van der Beek, Country Representative, ICCO COOPERATION, Bangladesh; Pavel Rahman, photographer of international repute; Rahnuma Ahmed, anthropologist, writer; Professor Shahidul Alam, head, Media and Communication, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB); Rambhajan Kairi, general secretary, Bangladesh Cha Sramik Union (BCSU); Sandhya Malo, Director, WCDB; and Chitta Ghosh, president, Dinajpur Press Club. Dr. Zakir Hossain Raju, professor of media and communication, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) will chair the launching event.
