SEHD Publications and Productions
Society for Environment and Human Development (SEHD) is a non-profit Bangladeshi organization working in the fields of human rights and environment since 1993. What is special of SEHD, it has always engaged in investigative reporting and action- oriented research in both fields. What is also unique, it has published all its reports and analyses in books, monographs, survey reports, magazines and newsletters. Its documentary films are also outcomes of its investigation and visual documentation.
In the field of human rights SEHD’s the key attention is focused on Adivasis (indigenous communities), tea workers and other marginalized communities. It has indeed developed comprehensive knowledge resources on the excluded and marginalized communities that anyone can access. A special feature of these knowledge resources is these are all based on extensive field work for two and half decades. In all its household surveys, the respective community members [especially youth] had been involved in gathering data from the field. For production of the documentary films, books and survey reports, all excluded and marginalized communities have been extensively photographed and filmed. Use of photographs therefore make all the publications and productions easily readable and attractive. These knowledge resources are tools for human rights defenders, development actors, journalists, universities, government agencies and research professionals who want to attend the excluded and marginalized communities with intellectual clarity. These materials are excellent field guides to identify and reach the excluded and marginalized communities throughout the country. These resources provide information, data, analysis, images, geographic maps and strategies widely discussed to deal with the excluded and marginalized communities.
SEHD’s work in the field of environment is similarly field-oriented. Its extensive investigation and research in the field of environment have resulted in a country report on the state of environment in Bangladesh, a number of books, documentary films, survey and investigative reports on forestry, tanneries, energy, coastal environment, Rohingyas, Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Modhupur sal forest, etc. These publications and productions present crucial knowledge of community and national interest.
One can easily access these knowledge resources in hard and digital forms at a modest cost. Sale of SEHD publications is not driven by commercial interest. If you purchase SEHD publications and productions, you contribute to its dedication.
