SEHD runs a documentation library at its office in Dhaka with special emphasis on the environment, human rights, ethnic issues, excluded groups, social exclusion, elections and democracy, and the media. Anyone is welcome to use the library.
Along with the documentation resources available, visitors can also consult research staff who can provide practical tips and
guidelines for research, reporting, documentation and filming in the organization’s focus areas. The resources in the documentation center are electronically catalogued so can be easily searched.
Who can use the library?
Anyone is allowed to use the documentation library with the help of the documentation in-charge or other staff members. There is a photocopy facility at a modest charge.

When is the library open?
The SEHD documentation library is open from 9.00am to 5.30pm, Sunday to Thursday. Please call ahead first to ensure someone will be available to assist you.
What sorts of resources does the library have?
The documentation center has nearly 3,500 books on subjects classified into the categories of environment, journalism, mass media, sociology and culture, ethnic people, women, politics, human rights, economics, international financial institutions, land, energy, water resources, development, poverty, law, education, election, prostitution/sex workers, local government, trade, computer, health, anthropology, agriculture, forestry, livestock, wildlife, fisheries, literature, geography, history and government publications.
As well as books, we have encyclopaedias, directories and dictionaries, local and international magazines, journals and periodicals, posters, brochures, and a substantial collection of newspaper clippings.
There are also materials that SEHD has published available for purchase.
